Amputee Treatment Center believes in promoting the future of healthcare, specifically in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. This experience introduces the student to many aspects of the field through mentoring and shadowing programs.Students may participate with various patient appointments as well as experiencing hands-on laboratory techniques.
Students enrolled in the Genesee Valley Board of Cooperative Educational Services, (B.O.C.E.S.) College Tech Prep Health Careers Academy as well as Genesee Community College SUNY nursing and physical therapy students have participated in past years.
One recent student enrolled in the B.O.C.E.S. Tech Prep Health Career Academy shadowed during the program and then subsequently spent two summers here at the Amputee Treatment Center employed part-time. He is now enrolled in the Orthotic and Prosthetic Technician program at Baker College in Flint, Michigan.
